Grade 1 have settled into ICT classes extremely well this year. It’s a big jump from kindergarten classes which are focused mainly on the consumption of media and some very basic creation, to elementary school where students are doing a lot of really world application of ICT, creating work for specific purposes and really starting to develop more complex ICT skills.
After the fun they had on Comic Life making posters, the next piece of work the students worked on was a Storybird. Students went to www.storybird.com, logged into my account and created their own picture books based on artwork submitted by artists from all around the world. The art is amazing and really gets the students creativity flowing, some of the stories are really interesting! Here is one great example.
An Adventure With Sally And Snoodle. by Tei on Storybird
Students can also read stories that are published on Storybird. If you like reading to your daughter, then explore Storybird for some interesting and fun books. If you like to make up stories or see yourself as a budding author, create your own account, narrate a book and see what kind of reaction you get.
